The Namazake Sake Experience At Hyper Japan 2018

Hyper Japan 2018 is coming. The largest Japanese cultural exhibition in the UK, Hyper Japan is so popular that it’s been a bi-annual event at London’s Olympia since 2014.

And, as a Wine Ninja, I’m excited to announce that his month’s event will be showcasing the largest collection of Namazake sake ever seen in the UK.

I know what you’re going to say… “what the hell’s Namazake sake?”. Well, it’s a bit like natural or raw wine. In other words, it’s “live”, often cloudy, unpasteurised sake, with a flavour profile that’s livelier and sharper than traditional sake. It’s pretty unusual stuff. Even in Japan.

Forty three examples of Namazake (also spelled Nama-Zake or Nama Sake) will be available to sample and buy at Hyper Japan’s Sake Experience, alongside Japanese craft beers, liqueurs and over 100 other varieties of sake.

In addition to the Japanese drinks, prepare to witness a psychedelic menagerie of cartoon mushrooms, plus-sized Pokémon, and 25-year-old schoolgirls with pink hair. Oh, and ninjas.

Yes, I’ll be there (sadly, not dressed in full ninja style), so come over and say kombanwa.
