Konichiwa! Welcome to the clifftop lair of the wine-and-travel ninjas. Stealthily they stalk the globe, uncorking new viticultural and culinary experiences before vanishing in a cloud of smoke. They would like to share their findings with you, if you are ready to receive them…

I’m Gary Rose, a full-time (ex BBC) magazine journalist with over 15 years’ experience as a writer and chief sub-editor on one of the UK’s biggest print magazines. I’m also the guardian of an unimpressive scroll certifying that I know a little bit about wine.

During my travels I’ve made tortellini in Italy, picked spices in India and quaffed Romanian red at midnight in a Transylvanian castle… but my home is at a secret location in Brighton, on England’s south coast.

So what’s the Wine Ninja philosophy? Well… I don’t take anything too seriously, for a start. And I don’t have much time for dry statistics. I think reviewing wine, food and travel should be about having fun and storytelling… so I try to dig out colourful anecdotes and edgy angles on every feature I write (they’re generally not hard to find). I’ll talk about who I met along the way; how a specific wine or dish made me feel; and how these experiences wove themselves into the tapestry of my life.
